Kalani Hawks (Performer) purchased her first pair of ballet shoes with birthday money when she was three years old, and she has been a dance enthusiast ever since. Kalani studied modern dance at Tufts University, where she performed and choreographed in numerous contemporary dance and musical theater productions. While a lawyer by day, Kalani likes to think of herself as a dancer first and she is thrilled to be performing in “I Witness.” She would like to thank Amanda, Shawn, and Jennifer for trusting her with their beautiful movement, and Tutto Theatre Company for making this journey possible.
Ryan Parent (Performer) was blessed as a child with participating in an all boys dance group under the direction of Wendy DeGeest in rural Minnesota. From 2000-2002, he attended Perpich Center for Arts Education (PCAE); dancing under the direction of Mary Harding and Tom Kanthak. He spent a year dancing at the University of Minnesota and within Zenon scholarship program and later had the wonderful opportunity of co-choreographing a piece on 10 Zenon scholarship students with his best friend Misty Raivo. After not dancing or choreographing for several years, traveling in Central America, and finally living briefly in an intentional spiritual community in the Santa Cruz Mountains, Ryan began to understand he needed to travel within his own body to truly experience his soul. He found Austin Community College and returned to dance again in the fall of 2009, relocating from Minnesota to Austin, Texas. At ACC he found a uniquely special community of soulful individuals, including two mentors: Darla Johnson and Kathy Dunn Hamrick. He currently dances with KDH Dance and is only becoming happier and more enlivened by dancing within the Austin community.
Randi Leigh Turkin (Performer) was born and raised in south LA and has spent the last seven years performing, choreographing and teaching in Austin. Her early dance training included ballet, jazz, tap, and hip hop, and it wasn’t until she went to college that she discovered modern and contemporary dance. She spent her last two years in LA dancing professionally with Of Moving Colors Productions where she had the opportunity to apprentice under the Artistic Director and choreograph for the company’s major productions. Shortly after moving to Austin, she delved into the local dance scene and found work as an independent artist performing with various companies including Calyx Dance Company and Ariel Dance Theatre. She has choreographed and/or performed for several Dance Carousels, Big Range Dance Festival, and other independent projects. In 2004 Randi founded ReleaseMotion Dance Project, an Austin-based company devoted to bridging the gap between dance and other art forms. She directed the company’s first major production “Circumstantial Playground” which made its debut at the Long Center for the Performing Arts last year. Randi holds a bachelor’s degree in Music and Dramatic Arts from Louisiana State University.
Amanda Cevallos (Performer) graduated with a degree in Drama/Dance from The University of Montana with an emphasis in choreography and performance. Dance is her first love. When she’s not in class for fashion design or playing the guitar and writing songs, she’s hard at work as a personal assistant and booking agent for local band Will Taylor and Strings Attached. Amanda’s favorite color is clear. She loves yoga and kitty cats.
Lizzi Biggers (Performer) is thrilled to return to The BLUE Theatre for her second production with Tutto Theatre Company. She was most recently seen in Ophelia as ‘Ophelia on Edge’, playing ‘The Balladeer’ in UT’s Assassins, as well as multiple memorable characters in the Debutantes and Vagabonds’ production of Are You Alive? She is elated to finally be finished with her undergraduate degree in Theatre and Dance from The University of Texas at Austin, but is already looking forward to graduate school…Art History, perhaps? She’d like to send a shout out to her awesome parents: Angie and Mark, and her beau, Patrick, for their love and patient support.
Alex Cogburn (Performer) was born and raised in San Antonio, Texas. He began performing in high school and continued to major in Theater and Dance at The University of Texas in Austin. Following his graduation in Spring 2007, he continues to perform for both theater and film projects. His love of movement had him taking dance classes while in college and led to his current part-time occupation as a martial arts instructor.
